Other conference participants may want to see your facial expression because that is an important part of your communication. If there is a window behind you, your face will be dark and you will lose that extra layer of communication. Check the camera settings for your video conferences, and test with a colleague. Usually we are too close to the camera and other people only see your face. In that way, you lose an important aspect of your communication which is gestures
